23 Aug Oman Water Society RO Desalination Research Workshop Organized at MEDRC HQ, Muscat
Muscat, Oman – August 23th, 2016 – Oman Water Society (OWS) has organized a research workshop on RO desalination at MEDRC HQ in North Al-Hail, in close cooperation with the Middle East Desalination Research Center (MEDRC) on August 22nd and 23rd, 2016. Representatives from the Ministry of water and local municipalities, and private sector attended this 2-days workshop that aimed at introducing the participants to the reverse osmosis desalination and its challenges in the world, and specifically in Oman.
OWS member Dr. Mohamed Al-Abri was in charge of leading this workshop and the participants got the opportunity to visit MEDRC RO Pilot Plant and understand its operational processes and its equipment including the used membranes.
The workshop provided a thorough exploration of RO technologies, including membranes and elements, nanofiltration, pressure vessels, brackish water and seawater RO units and pretreatment techniques. Also Dr. Mohammed discussed the Membrane Desalination Fouling, Energy & Cost Management and focused on ways to effectively manage these three critical aspects of seawater membrane desalination plants. In the end the latest advancements in membrane and energy recovery technologies were addressed, based on practical experience at desalination plants around the world
The participants discussed how to improve RO desalination processes and which are the innovative technologies used and how to overcome O&M challenges.
Oman Water Society (OWS) is a non-profitable non-governmental organization (NGO) found by professionals working in both the Government and Private Sectors who are involved in the water management, water supply and water projects. It is chaired by Eng. Zaher Al-Suleimani.
MEDRC is a non-profit international organization and a recognized research institution that specializes in desalination technologies and renewable energy integration into desalination, with the aim of finding solutions to fresh water scarcity in the MENA region.
نظمت الجمعية العمانية للمياه حلقة عمل تدريبية بعنوان ” تحلية المياه باستخدام التناضح العكسي (RO) ” في المقر الرئيسي لمركز أبحاث تحلية المياه في الشرق الأوسط في شمال الحيل في يومي 22 و 23 أغسطس 2016.
قدم حلقة العمل الدكتور محمد بن زاهر العبري عضو اللجنة العلمية بالجمعية بحضور مرشحين من وزارة البلديات الأقليمية و موارد المياه والبلديات المحلية والقطاع الخاص لمدة يومين حيث ركزت حلقة العمل على تعريف المشاركين على أساسيات تحلية مياه البحر بالتناضح العكسي وتحدياتها في العالم، وعلى وجه التحديد في عمان. وأيضا على التركيز على الجانب العلمي لتقنية التناضح العكسي بجانب التشغيل وذلك لفهم التقنية بصورة علمية متقدمة لضمان الجودة في العمل. وحصل المشاركون على فرصة لزيارة محطة التحلية التجريبية في المركز وفهم العمليات التشغيلية ومعداتها بما في ذلك الأغشية المستخدمة.
وقدمت حلقة العمل شرح شامل ودقيق لتكنولوجيات التناضح العكسي، بما في ذلك الأغشية والعناصر المؤثرة، والتحلية الدقيقة جدا وتقنيات المعالجة. كما ناقش الدكتور محمد غشاء التحلية والطاقة والتكلفة الإدارية وركزت على كيفية إدارة هذه الجوانب الثلاثة الهامة من محطات تحلية المياه تحلية مياه البحر على نحو فعال. واستنادا إلى الخبرة العملية في محطات تحلية المياه في جميع أنحاء العالم وناقش المشاركون كيفية تحسين عمليات تحلية المياه RO والتي هي التقنيات المبتكرة المستخدمة وكيفية التغلب على تحديات O & M
