22 Mar MEDRC’s World Water Day Celebrations
Walk For Water Jobs
Under the Auspices of The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the presence of Ambassador
Dr. Mohamed Al Busaidi, Chief of North America Department of the Ministry
MEDRC is proud to announce it’s celebrations for International World Water Day!
The UN Water has designated 2016 World Water day to Water for Jobs, and more information on the UN Water, and world celebrations can be found here.
MEDRC felt that Water for Jobs, was a perfect way to showcase the importance of jobs in the water sector, especially seeing as there is a lot of focus in the media recently on unemployment, specialized education, and the vocational job markets.
Following on this theme, MEDRC is proud to announce it’s #WalkForWaterJobs event.
This launches, on the 20th of March 2016 with Hilmi Al Kindi, a Desalination Training Assistant, walking 33 kilometers, from Barka 1 Desalination Plant (one of the biggest plants in Oman) to arrive at MEDRCs premises on the 22nd of March 2016. Hilmi will be joined by students from the Khouris Al Haboos School, not only to join him in the walk, but also to make a Documentary on the event.
Concurrently, Eng. Riadh Dridi, will have students from the Abu Ayoub Al Hadrami School, who will be helping him make displays on Water Projects and Innovations here at the MEDRC Desalination Training Center here in Al Hail. These Projects will be on display for the duration of the event.
Futher Details:
- The school children, will walk for 2 hours on the 20th of March, for a distance of 3 kilometers. (20th of March 2016)
- They will meet MEDRC’s staff member, who has been walking for two days, on the 22nd of March
