MEDRC Announce Online Application for TAHLYA 2020

MEDRC is pleased to announce the opening of online applications for its vocational training course in desalination, known as TAHLYA.

Eligible candidates are invited to apply through MEDRC’s website at medrc.org/tahlya. To be eligible for a place on the TAHLYA program candidates must meet the following requirements;

  • Omani Nationals
  • 20-28 yrs of age
  • Unemployed
  • Newly graduated
  • Be able to provide their own accommodation and transportation
  • Guarantee availability for the entire duration of the program
  • Show commitment and an interest in pursuing a career in desalination

First launched in 2016 through the support of BP Oman’s social investment program, TAHLYA seeks to train young Omani national job seekers in reverse osmosis desalination technologies. The program will create a pool of skilled and employable labor in desalination within Oman and help to meet the labor requirements of the countries expanding desalination sector.

Training will take place at MEDRC’s state of the art water research and training facility in Muscat, where theory and practical coursework are combined to make the learning process interactive, hands on and engaging. Once trainees have finished the training at MEDRC they will then be placed as observational interns at one of Oman’s largest desalination plants. This formative experience builds familiarity with real-world large-scale plants and their operating procedures, allowing for TAHLYA trainees to visualize future job prospects and prepare for a smooth transition from trainee to employee.

MEDRC will run 2 installments of the program in 2020. We are inviting applications for the first installment with training set to begin on February 2nd 2020 and finish on April 17th 2020. Observational internship placements will be assigned for candidates in June 2020.

We will announce applications for the second installment of the program in May 2020.
