Jordanian Engineers attend SWRO desalination training at MEDRC

Five engineers from the Water Authority of Jordan returned to Muscat this week to continue their education and training in reverse osmosis desalination at MEDRC’s water training center. The training is being delivered through the Development Cooperation Department at MEDRC under the Technical Capacity Building Program, which works to enhance institutional knowledge and capacity in Palestine and Jordan, through the provision of specialized training and consultancy services.
Having completed level one of MEDRC’s specialized desalination training program earlier in the year they returned to achieve level 2 accreditation in reverse osmosis pretreatment operation and monitoring. Next month the five participants will return to attend a four day classroom course in system design which will cover theoretical and practical aspects of design and engineering of seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) membrane systems.
The design course provides a brief overview of RO system fundamentals and focuses on the selection and design of all key RO system components and discusses alternative RO membrane system configurations, key performance parameters of stateof-the art SWRO and BWRO elements, and instrumentation and control components of SWRO plants.
