MEDRC Center Director Ciarán Ó Cuinn addressed the recent EU Commission Conference in Jordan on the topic of ‘The MEDRC Model of Science Diplomacy”.

The Conference entitled ‘Addressing shared challenges through science diplomacy: the case of the EU-Middle East regional cooperation,’ was attended by EU Commissioner Carlos Moedas and Her Royal Highness Princess Soumaya bint Al Hassan who both stressed the links between scientific cooperation and the peace.

Participating in a panel discussion on ‘Science Diplomacy in Action’ the Center Director alongside Robert-Jan Smits, Director-General, European Commission DG Research and Innovation, Chris Llewellyn Smith, President of the SESAME Council and Rolf Heuer, Director General of CERN, the Center Director, presented ‘The MEDRC Model of Science Diplomacy’. He discussed MEDRC’s work in developing cooperative cross-border projects and dialogue in the field of Middle East fresh water scarcity.
